The Class of 2020 was the single most challenging year to be admitted to Harvard University ever to date. For the Class of 2020, 39,041 students applied to Harvard University of which 2,037 students were accepted, yielding an overall acceptance rate of 5.2%. Overall applications increased by 4.7% over last year (2019 to 2020) from 37,305 to 39,041.

For the Class of 2020, 918 students were admitted through the early admissions process. Total early applications totaled 6,173, yielding an early acceptance rate of 14.9%. Early applications increased by 4.3% over last year (2019 to 2020) from 5,919 to 6,173.
